On paper it would seem that the biggest transfer saga of the summer of 2020 is over, with Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc , confirming that Jadon Sancho will stay with the club for the 2020/21 season and that such a decision was final.

Weeks of speculation has followed since the conclusions of the Bundesliga and Premier League seasons respectively, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s demand for Sancho to be signed was going to be met with
uncharacteristic pace from Ed Woodward and Matt Judge .

A deadline of August 10 was set by Borussia Dortmund for any interested club to come up with the 120 million euros required to prise Sancho away from the Bundesliga giants.

Such a deadline has now passed and with Sancho having travelled to Bad Ragaz in Switzerland as part of Dortmund ‘s squad for the training camp, and Zorc was eager to try and put the matter to bed.

“We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team for 2020/21, the decision is final, I think that answers all the questions,” Zorc explained to the press.

The 2019/20 campaign saw Sancho flourish even further in Germany, adding 17 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga, which persuaded Solskjaer that the former Manchester City academy product would be the answer to his team’s right-wing woes.

Lucien Favre can now relax knowing he has continuity with his team with neither Sancho or Erling Haaland likely to move this summer.

However, many will remember Zorc making a similar comment just weeks before Ousmane Dembele joined Barcelona so there will inevitably be a continuation of rumours in the coming weeks, despite Dortmund making their position crystal clear.
