Leicester City: Falling Steeply?

As relegation favourites heading into the 2015/16 season, Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes, with the assistance of 24-goal striker Jamie Vardy, the magical Riyad Mahrez and the indefatigable N’Golo Kanté, stunned the sporting world with their 5000/1 Premier League title triumph.

Years later, and the foxes are still in the top flight.

Their incredible start to the 2019/2020 season has catapulted them to a champions league spot, a position they are barely holding on to.

Since the restart, Leicester City haven’t replicate their early season impressive performances.

Brendan Rodgers‘s boys played away to Bournemouth on Sunday evening. Despite leading by a goal at the half mark, the foxes eventually fell to a surprise 4-1 defeat.

With a resurgent Manchester United Chasing Ferociously, Leicester City will need to work immensely to stay atop.

Rodgers need to get his boys to play the way they did before the Covid-19 enforced break. A team effort is what is needed; Jamie Vardy’s goals and Caglar Soyuncu‘s defensive contributions might not be enough.

And for a team that battled with city for second place, now in fourth place, with tough games still to come. Leicester city might just have start to fall steeply.
