With no return Leg, can Barcelona now finally win the Champions League?

Last month Barcelona watched as Real Madrid lifted the LaLiga Santander title, with many blaming the Blaugranas for easily surrendering the title to their arch rivals.

All season, Barcelona never looked comfortable playing away from the camp nou, having racked up just 32 points compared to the 50 points accrued on home soil.

In the Champions League , Barcelona were paired with Napoli in the first knockout round. Los Cules once again failed to beat the Italian club in a 1-1 away draw.

The return leg was a walk in the park, as Setien’s men dismantled Napoli by 3 goals to 1, with Lionel Messi pulling the strings as always.

Now Lionel Messi and co will come up against a red hot Bayern Munich who have passed an easier route to the quarter finals, by making light of Chelsea after beating the blues with a “7-1” aggregate scores.

The final three rounds of the tournament have been condensed into a one-legged format over 11 days in Lisbon this August, after the original schedule was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The new arrangement now means no “home and away” tie. Something that should come as a great news for Barcelona as they may have just been saved from the potential horrors of the Alianz Arena.

And with no return Leg, can Barcelona now finally win the Champions League?
